The Federal Supply Code is the first four digits of a National Stock Number (NSN), which is the primary identifier for every standardized item in the US military supply system. The FSC groups supply items into 76 classes (referred to as Federal Supply Classes, also abbreviated FSC) organized under broader Federal Supply Groups. For example, FSC 1560 covers airframe structural components and FSC 6110 covers electrical control equipment. When the broader Product Service Code system was introduced, FSC codes were incorporated as the product portion of the PSC schedule. In practice, the term FSC is still used heavily in DLA procurement, military logistics databases, and DIBBS solicitation searches where vendors look up items by NSN or FSC to find relevant solicitations.
